In 1979, the Gators had a rough 0-10-1 season, the worst in Florida history. But in 1980, under head coach Charles B. “Charley” Pell and All-American Cris Collinsworth, they made an amazing comeback, finishing 8-4 overall and winning the 35-20 Tangerine Bowl against the Maryland Terrapins. It was a historic first in major college football: a winless team getting a bowl bid the next season. This awesome 1980 Gators design was on all their programs that year.
