In 1983, Texas A&M head coach Jackie Sherrill introduced the 12th Man Kickoff Team. Made entirely of walk-ons (except for the scholarship kicker), they covered kickoffs for home games and the final road game of the season. Playing with passion and love for their school, they led the country in covering kickoffs twice in the next five seasons, never finishing out of the top 5, and helped the Aggies to three straight Southwest Conference titles and two Cotton Bowl victories, waving their famous white towels every time they ran out on the field.
